Our tour will begin on the world’s most famous floating island: Venice. After meeting with our Tour Leader, we’ll board the mini-coach and cross over the border into Slovenia, where we’ll start as we mean to go on – with a wine tasting session and delicious light lunch. Then it’s onwards to our hotel in the Lake Bled area, where we’ll toast the start of our adventure with a group dinner.
After tucking into breakfast, we’ll take a closer look at Lake Bled with a local guide – and enjoy a boat ride to the small island in the lake’s centre, where we’ll visit the Church of the Assumption. We’ll then visit historic Bled Castle before making tracks to the charming town of Radovljica, where we’ll have some free time to explore. After that, it’s back to the hotel for some well-deserved rest and relaxation.
This morning we’ll bid a fond farewell to Lake Bled and hit the road to Slovenia’s capital: Ljubljana. After checking off the city’s major sights with a local guide, we’ll move on to Opatija in Croatia for a local wine tasting. This afternoon, there’s a real treat in store for the chocaholics among us: a chocolate tasting session! When we’ve had our fill, we’ll make our way to our hotel – where the evening will be yours to spend as you wish.
Prepare your taste buds for one of Istria’s tastiest treasures – there’s an exclusive truffle tasting with a local family in Motovun on the agenda this morning. Our next stop will be the sleepy coastal village of Rovinj, where we’ll stroll along cobbled streets and soak up the atmosphere. Then, we’ll head back to Opatija for the night.
After hitting the road and stopping for lunch in Korenica, we’ll discover one of Croatia’s most astounding natural sites: the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Plitvice Lakes National Park. The walking trails that hug the lakes will allow us to explore on foot and watch as the water transforms from emerald green to azure blue. To do this beautiful region justice with a full day’s exploration, tonight we’ll stay in a nearby town and enjoy an included dinner together.
Today we’ll continue north to the town of Smiljan, the birthplace of famous inventor Nikola Tesla. Afterwards, we’ll head south and enter central Dalmatia, where our local host will treat us to a homemade lunch filled with Croatian specialties. Before the sun gs down, we’ll reach Split – where we’ll settle down to one last dinner together as a group.
To make the most of our final morning together, we’ll meet after breakfast to embark on a walking tour of Split and to explore Diocletian’s Palace. The tour will then come to a close back at the hotel.
